The glow plugs are controled by the PCM and can stay on as long as 2 minutes...
i was asking if the light came on to verify he had not left anything unplugged.

Where is the fuel filter heater there is a price under my fuel filter that doesn't quiet look right... It's hard to describe but any one who has looked under the filter with the Noel drained should not exactly what I'm talking about

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Did some research on the fuel filter heater and I'm 99% sure going off memory the wire to the element is not there at the time it didn't ring a bell because I didn't know what I was looking at being that I'm new to diesels... So not seeing a wire didn't rung a bell... Oh man I hope that's it

Would that cause my symptoms? From what I gather yes...

Try that on a powerstroke with a functioning glow plug system and see how that works out for you...

the gpr is about 70$ at autozone. if you have someone try and start it and hold a screwdriver on the 2 big nuts on the gpr if it starts then the relay is bad. thats how i figured mine was bad.

If the glow plug relay doesn't fix it then it could be your IDM relay

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

If your fuel heater is not working, your truck will still run fine. If the fuel heater is shorting it will blow a 30 amp fuse, fuse 20A behind your air filter and your truck will crank strong but not start.

I believe I checked the IDM relay, where is that? sorry for the ignorance but I am pretty new to diesels.

ok i verified the fuel bowl heater is shot and the 30 amp maxi fuse is blown so the parts will arrive tomorrow

ANY glow plug started truck has that chance... Most trucks that require it to fire, do not have functioning glow plugs...

Try it on the 6.9 as well if the glow plugs are working. Stand back and be careful...

Well my fuel heater shorted and blew a fuse... Do you think that's still a sign of failing glow plugs?
