Default Turbo Problems ?

I know that these things don't make a ton of boost, but even when really getting into the gas pedal, I can't hear the turbo. I check the turbo shaft, there is ZERO shaft play. Took off the air filter and there is a good, steady vacuum of air going to the turbo. It must be spooling...

My question, is it possible the turbo is spooling but not getting boost to the engine? I have a 6637 filter and straight pipe from the cat. The motor really roars when getting into it heavy but do not feel the boost and definitely don't hear the turbo at all...

Please help!!!

Check the piping from air filter to turbo? I assume you mean for air coming out before it gets to the turbo? I have take the filter off and suction was good. Thanks for response!

unless you modify it you won't feel much when it does build its meager 12 psi of boost. Mine will put out about 28 psi, and it still doesn't sound as noticeable as my dodge at less than 10 psi as it starts to spool.

Get some gauges, or a scanner and read the MAP sensor.

At this point you know nothing of what your truck is or is not doing. Not hearing the turbo means nothing.

Thank you. I know a guy that has a scanner. Gauges are high on the list. Just replaced a ton of stuff on the front end so little low on $$.. this is a second vehicle not my primarily thankfully. Mostly plan to use it for pulling a few trailers and haul wood. Just want more power and a good whistle.

ya check your wiring for your miss, but what he means checking your boot is theres 2 rubber boots for your intake going to both heads, check to see if those have a split in them

If nothing shows up on the map sensor check the valve cover wiring. Checked the boots.. no air leaks that I can find. All air from filter going direct to turbo. Will let you guys know what computer readings check out to be. Can't than y'all enough!
