Default thinking about trading duramax for F450?

possible going to trade my 2005 gmc in on a 2008 ford f450 with the 6.4
i like the looks of this truck and i'm planning ahead to upgrade my 5er to a bigger 5er and i know my 2500hd will be unable to safely tow that much camper. i'm lost with the mods needed to improve fuel economy and any problems that this truck may be common to having. i'm looking to you guys for some solid advice here...
also, if anyone can run a vin check i'd appreciate the help.

I don't have a lot of knowledge on the 6.4 but when someone asks for advice on a vehicle you should leave your personal biases out of the thread.

The 2008 F-450 is heavy & has 4:88 gears for towing, so your MPG won't go over 10. I know some one is going to tell you to do a DPF/DELETE & buy a tuner for better mileage

I was told that 2008 F-450 was the last year of old F-450, the NEWER F-450 are lighter & weaker and are more like an F-350 BUT check it out, That is what I was told. This is the information I found on the net For 2011, the F450 is built on a F350 frame, with F350 axles, wheels, & brakes. It is basically now an F350 with a higher tow rating and a 4.30 gear. They might have a better load rating on the tires or springs, but it won't be much different from a F350 dually. It seems that no one ever wants to specify what model they are talking about in a post either. Cab/chassis users like me have had the F450 a long time, then ford builds a pickup with great tow ratings, but less GVW and a lighter frame. Now for has completed the neutering of the F450, by basically turning it into the new F350 tow boss. Yes it will be lighter and get better mpg than the old F450 pickup. The old F350 did too, so it only makes sense that without any true F450 chassis components, that it would! By the way, the 8 lug wheels on the 2011 F450 pickup should give you a clue as to the rotors underneath. The big rotors are 10 lug.
