Ditto Jared. Fleetwork obviously hasn't a clue. Again, it surely isn't perfect (I don't think any of them are). However, it is far from junk.

Yeah, fleetwork. STFU. Grownups are talking.

I love how they backed me up, obviously by the three of us 6.4 owners you can tell it is a respected motor. Look at River City Diesel and Elite Diesel, even Innovative Diesel, Try and say the 6.4 is junk. Our farm has owned every since diesel of ford and cummins except the ve 12v, our 6.4 and CR 24v cummins are our favorites, enough said.

The 6.4 is decent, but only because its got compounds and the VNT isn't airplane winged junk like the 6.0. It still has significant design flaws/compromises that can be corrected.
Unfortunately the 6.7 looks like it will be DOA. They stole the "head flip" idea from GM and rushed it to market. The turbo it has will end up being one of the biggest limitations of the engine with its tiny turbine and high drive pressure. Larger capacity exhaust manifolds will be popular replacements with the aftermarket too. Adding an air-air intercooler will be an important step for increasing performance as well.

Why would ANYONE buy a truck that you have to pull the cab and front clip off for engine repairs. A good friend of mine is a blue ovel lover and bought an 08 F-450 4x4 and in 15000mi it was in the shop 12-15 times, 7 of which the cab had to be removed for repairs. Personally I say wait, why would you want the headaches.

I own an 08 6.7 cummins, but my family business has 5 6.4s. All of which are stock, except the flatbed, which I installed a SCT DPF delete. I can vouch for the reliabiliy of the 6.4 Fords, as the only problem any of the 5 has had in anywhere between 40k miles and 80k miles, is a few bad hoses or a radiator recall. Good trucks, solid motors, strong transmission....
P.S. I still like my dodge more

I think it great that peoples friends, mothers, sisters ,or whom ever else are talkin b/s on the 6.4 and the so-called problems. For every 1-problem, there are 50 satified people whom own the 6.4. I hope their fine words of wisdom turn people away from the 6.4 so I dont have to worry about other 6.4s pulling up next to me on the line. After all, the 6.4 is a modern marvel creating new standards on the road and making EVERYBODY else cringe on the line and the dyno. Keep talkin as I pass you by.

Just commenting!!!!
Ive drivin the 450 in question and towed with it also and was pretty discusted with the lack of towing power and fuel econonmy. My stock 2005 dodge dually with the G-56 six speed and 3.73 gear both out pulls this particular truck, and gets 5-6 more MPG while doing so. Ive owned 8 diesel pickups in the past and have towed alot of way heavier loads than what is manufacturer recomended, and havent had even a 1/4 of the problems with all the trucks combined that the 08 F-450 had. As far as passing off the line , that doesent mean anything other than youve spent alot of money on useless stuff that will cause me to pass you somewhere down the road when something breaks or premature wear causes a breakdown for ya!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I forgot to mention that FORD ended up buying the pile back after being sued, and at the time this particular lawyer here in Michigan had 460 other cases of lemon law suites!!
