My egr was throwing a code, so I had it removed, it was clogged, could've cleaned it & put it back, but since i had already bought my H & S XRT PRO tuner, i did the egr/dpf/cat delete

EGR (exhaust gas recirculation): this system recirculates you exhaust supposedly to help lower exhaust temperatures. Engine coolant moves through the system to help cool the exaust gas. This system was developed due to EPA regulations as was the DPF.

I disagree that the systems help cut down on emissions. I was getting 8-10 miles per gallon with the systems on. After DPF/CAT/EGR delete I am now getting 17-22 miles per gallon. Seems to me that using less fuel is much greener than the systems benefits.

Before I did my mods I looked into getting the DPF replaced as mine was bad and my pressure sensor was bad as well. But, I didn't know the sensor was bad until I did my mods. My regen cycle would kick on 3-6 times per day and my commute is 6 miles one way. A new DPF filter was $1793 plus a couple hundred extra to have it put on. I ended up spending just under $2000 for the tuner, delete pipes, and cold air intake. I am so glad that I went with the mods instead of changing the filter.

Also, my diesel buddy mechanic claims that with the mods I should be able to get up to 500,000 miles out of this truck/drive train. Factory stock diesels are luck if they can get 200,000 miles. So, I spent $2000 to double the life of my truck!? That sounds like an intelligent investment to me.

Just purchased a 2008 F250 Lariat 6.4L and am very interested in a dpf/cat delete along with egr delete and programming. I'm wanting to improve mpg but also have the power option for pulling a gooseneck trailer. My main concern is will these mods make my truck smoke? I prefer to keep it as clean as I can.

It's getting hard to find a race tuner, since they have been banned, you can decide how little or much smoke your truck puts out with the race tuner. Make sure the tuner can delete the "D P F"
