Default Needing guidance, please!

I am a proud new owner of a 07' F-250 6.0 with 51,000 miles on it. I've been looking high and low for the right deal on a truck for several weeks. So this past Wednesday I made a 3 hour tripe to New Orleans and bought what I hope to be is a good truck. As far as I know the truck has no mods besides it is running a different tune then stock. I found this out because dealership salesman called previous owner in front of me to get me key pad lock code. I quickly ask while he had the previous owner on the phone if he had done any mods to the truck. He said it had a different program then factory but did remember which one and that he would have to dig around and find it. Other then the A/C switching to defrost vents when I put it in 4, I don't believe there are anymore issues to speak of. I plan on doing head studs by the end of the year or shortly after. Who do you guys recommend in my area? I'm 2 hours from Houston and 3 from New Orleans. I plan on putting a tune on the truck for now but I have no idea if my current SCT XCal 2 will work with my truck. I previously used it on my 03' Ford Lightning. If so where do I get a tune for SCT XCal 2? Mainly for better fuel mileage but please keep in mind that my pocketbook is not ready for head studs yet. Next I would like to know which exhaust system you all prefer? Also I do plan on doing the EGR delete. So could you guys please advise me on how to fix my A/C issue stated above and line me out on the rest.

Studs and the SCT can both wait. Do some shakedown driving to discover any additional concerns. Unless you got $10k ready to roll just enjoy the truck and learn about the quirks. During this time you can study up of how to proceed with mods and performance that will best work with your situation.

Exhaust can be as simple as a down pipe, adding to that a cat delete pipe, or going all in with a full turbo back system. The OEM tubing is 3.5" after the cat so it's easy to keep it a simple low cost system.

IIRC the defrost thing is a leak in the vacuum system, maybe the hub lines??

Congrats and welcome to the 6.0 world!!

Vacuum leak, check out the auto 4x4 hubs not working post at the top of the 6.0 page, it will tell you how to diagnose it.

Your xcal2 will work, call up Innovative Diesel, or Gearhead. Either one, both right excellent tunes. Tell them you don't have studs yet, keep the tunes MILD. I'd go with a street tune (not the extreme version).

Thanks for the info!

Okay guys so this is where I'm at now. This past Saturday I installed EGR delete, replaced the STC fitting, new oil cooler, MBRP 4" SS turbo back with muffler no cat & install SCT custom non studded program from Innovative Diesel. Boy did it wake up my truck! Now please tell me are there certain gauges that I should get to moniter my motor? I only ask because I read that in most cases there aren't any warnings before something goes wrong.

Another issue I'm dealing with is my A/C has been blowing through my defrost more than my vents. I found the vacuum leak causing the issue and fixed it somewhat. I took my brake bleeder kit and pulled a 15" vacuum on the line that controls the blender door from vent to defrost. It took a 15" vacuum in order for me not to feel any air flow from defrost area. Next I hooked my tool to the reservoir side and noticed that the vacuum pump shuts off with a 12" vacuum consistently. So my question now is, is a 12" vacuum the norm or do I have a blend door that needs oiled? If you guys think blend door please tell me where its located or a link as to how to get to it.

Thanks

Did you check out that video? I believe he says in the vid how much vacuum is needed to operate the hubs. It's possible the blend door needs replacement too I suppose, but I'm not very familiar with that.

As for gauges, you get what you pay for. I use ISSPRO EV2's. You can also look into a "monitor" setup that is just a pod that displays a bunch of different things. The Edge CTS is quite popular.

Ok so I change that vacuum pump and helped a little. Reservoir now has a 15" vacuum once pump shuts off. It's now blowing out of the vent more than defrost now, but still a very little coming through defrost. Still blowing cool but not cold. If I hit the recirculate button its blows cooler then without recirc, its comfortable, but still not cold. Any ideas???
