Default Sinister coolant filter

Has anybody had a problem with the coolant filter leaking around the seal? This is my second filter and they both leaked around the O ring.

I install them after lubricating the O ring and spin them to hand tight. Do these got installed a different way?

Mine hasnt leaked, but I'm on my first filter. The only thing that I did differently was I didn't lube mine, I just spun it on.

Never seen one leak before... none of mine have!? I wonder if the aluminum filter housing is defective in some way?

****** UPDATE ********

Just spoke with MKM / Sinister and explained the problem. They are sending out a new head, no charge, via 3 day UPS.

Now that is good customer service!!

That's good to hear! Try and compare the old to the new when it comes in and see if you can see any differences or areas it would leak.

I asked about lubricating and they said anti freeze and also said crank it down tighter then normally done with an oil filter.

That is how I installed original Wix and thought I might have over tightened it and was supposed to have used oil.

The NAPA I lubricated with oil and hand tightened it then "snugged" a 1/4 turn or so.

We will see what happens Wed.
