I've heard a few 7.3 guys say that. What exactly doesn't it like? It's weird, the 6.0 seems way more picky, yet a ton of 6.0 guys, including myself have had great luck with even the standard 15w-40 non synthetic stuff. My truck is really hating this non synthetic premium blue, but I've heard GREAT things about the synthetic stuff.

I'm just running the standard rotella and a frame filter. It just takes longer for my truck to start after the last oil change. Runs fine just harder to start.

Well that could be a few things, not necessarily oil. Do you always use Fram filters? Are they any good for the 7.3's? I know for the 6.0's the Fram is the exact same as the motorcraft.

I'm thinking either the filter or oil. Or combination of both.

Default Oil

I run nothing but Rotella T Syn 5W40. I have one PSD with 300,000 miles and another with 92,000 miles. Change oil every 12-18 thousand miles with an oil filter change at about 6-9 thousand miles.

Better mileage
better start up in cold weather

Yikes, I'd never go that long on oil on a 6.0, regardless of what type it is. 5k for me. I know Karl goes like 7-8k on his and he catches a lot of flack about it. The 6.0 is a very high shearing motor.

My buddy has over 300k on his 6.0 running standard rotella 15w-40 the whole time. He switched to T6 around 290k when he did studs and gaskets.
