I realize that I am in the minority with this opinion, but I believe oil analysis (OA) is your BEST tool! Rotella T-5 conventional oil and a Fram filter went 10K in my 2003 and could have gone farther given the OA results. I wouldn't recommend running 10K without an OA, though.

Several Bombers are going to tell you that I am as high as a kite and that 5K is the magic number. IMO, at $80/5 gal bucket, I'm going to get the full use out of it.

I'm an avid 5k changer, but I also do it because of the veggie, if there is ever an issue where I have an injector leaking or anything like that, I'll catch it sooner (not as big of a deal when diesel mixes with motor oil, but when veggie and motor oil mix, it looks like tar).

I will be running Rotella T6 next change 5w/40 or 15w/40 should be good. In fully synthetic most of it is 5w/40. That should be fine.

Other popular ones for the 6.0 are Amsoil, and Valvoline premium blue, a few here and there use schaffers too. All are good oils. Stay away from Royal Purple.

I was just on amsoils website about to buy some synthetic oil but read in bold letters "DO NOT USE WITH OIL ADDITIVE" so don't use rev x with the synthetic amsoil?

I think they are talking about stuff like Lucas oil additive, I run Amsoil with the bypass setup and I change oil every 25k even when the OA says its still good, the bypass system filters out the sutt, cost a little more up front but saves in the long run, before you put Amsoil in it do the flush with there product.

Scheaffers is the only synthetic I would run

Oil can get to be hot topic for some. I say run any good oil and see how your truck likes it. I use the Rotella T6 because it is about $20.00 a gal at Wallyworld so its handy to get. I do my oil at 5000mi, because I cant think of another engine that is so hard on oil. I know some that go way longer and I think thats fine too....for them.:c:

Hmm...I am confused t-5 is a synthetic blend in 10w-30 or 10w-40 flavors...so are you running T5, "triple protection" 15w40 or t3 conventional?
