Default Remote tranny filter

On my 06 with auto there is a tranny filter located on the right front behind and below the radiator - can anyone tell me if there is a trick to get this thing off. Picked up a new filter and I cannot get the housing off. It has a molded in nut on the bottom of the housing. I put a 3/4" drive ratchet on it and still couldn't get it to move. I did not want to go to extreme because the fluid lines look like they connect to the filter base with plastic fittings,

Thanks in advance for replies.

They say you should only use an impact on it, typically a regular ratchet or a wrench will actually break that cap. Need the quick burst from the impact gun to get it off of there... I've seen a LOT of them broken from not using an impact.

Guess I will have to wait until I get back up north in a couple of months and use my buddy's shop.

I got the tools to put "muscle to it" but I don't want to snap any of those plastic fittings

I am SOOOO glad I live out west where it isn't so humid, mine came off without issue when it was time to service it. I recommend Anti-Seize when you put it back together.

Actually the truck has spent most of its life in MT and the tranny was serviced at 99,620 miles by the dealer in MT - but yea you are right - a LOT more humid here in FL

I've seen way too many of these things broken to comfortably use anything other than an impact... just my $.02.
