Just spoke with IH dealer. They said they would sell me the fuel filter, but wouldn't recommend it. They said there were a few guys there that had 6.0's and they didnt use them. Reason being is that the Ford filter has a "lip" on it that the IH filter does not, and if you don't get it on just right dirt will enter into system. Thoughts? Any experiences with this?

Sounds like they have no clue what they're talking about. Somewhat.
They do sell the brass plug, because that's where I got mine from. You can also get it from Ford now too with the Ford P/N. 6E7Z-9C082-A The international filters are the same as the old style Ford one's. Ford did redesign them and the lower filter for the HFCM has a lip and an o-ring on it now to prevent anything from going by as it becomes plugged. This drops fuel pressure, thus why Ford released that blue spring upgrade and didn't tell anyone about it. I specifically still order mine from International to get the old style filters, as I prefer the slightly higher fuel pressure. As long as you're changing your filters in the normal time alotted, there should be no issue. Even if anything got by that filter, the filter up on top of the engine would surely catch it. I believe it's like a 2 micron filter up top. Nothing is getting by that. |

Thanks for the info. I have tried to open the plug on mine to bleed off the water, and literaly bent an allen key.Never did get it open. Does this kit include both fuel filters? any ideas as to possibility of the water in fuel message coming on? Once cleared when truck is running, it does not come back. THink that this sensor may be bad? Any ideas?

Both fuel filters come in those boxes yes. Well if you can't drain the water, that's probably why you're getting water in fuel light. Need to get that figured out somehow...

I don't understand the filters costing over $100 at dealers. I believe the Ford suggested price for them is $64.27, and that is what my local dealer charges for them. I need to get one of those plugs though.
