Now the question is are the 7.3L and the 6L systems the same? and what I mean by the same have they changed any of the metal compounds, solder strenghts ect... in the 6.0L this must all be taken in to a factor can the 6.0L handle small modifications to coolants ie .5 more PH balance than ford specs???? Where do you start and where do you end. Really it all boils down to money. how much are we willing to pay? All I know is I am willing to try a diffrent coolant, Just like you or the next guy is willing to try diffrent mods, tunners and other upgrades. Unless someone actually runs diffrent coolant in there truck(s) there will be no proof because we know ford will us scare tatics with your warranty because really if you are having to replace things yourself 1000$ here and 1000$ there it adds up and people just dont want to spend that kinda cash. IMO ford should replace everything on a 6.0L that is proven to be faulty with upgraded parts. Who want to pay 25K - 80K for a truck that A: you dont trust and B: The high cost of repairs for the same faulty parts (when warranty is up). Anyways this picture is proof for me. Good luck

7.3 and 6.0 specify different coolants yes. The important spec for the 6.0 is the Nitrate, which is severely lacking in the ELC coolants. Someone else already said it, either coolant is probably fine, when properly maintained.

There are plenty of oils that meet Ford's spec, but why so few for coolant?

Your picture doesn't really prove anything to me. You know that's silicate from the coolant or is it sand castings from the block????

Good info and I'm glad it's not turning into a hostile environment. Nice to see everyones point of views. Is anyone actually still following the info on PSN there, that was a really good thread.

Oh it should never be a hostile.. everyone has there own views and thoughts but that is how things are figured out. We all own a PSD so there is one thing common between us all even if you like apples and I like oranges . So nitrate is very important in the coolant what is the PPM of nitrates in g-05 based coolant since that is the ony spec that is missing on any spec sheet I have looked at.

All of his videos are good. This is the first time I've see this one. I'm using the wrong coolant! It's only been about 5,000 miles, but I'll change it ASAP!

What coolant are you using? As long as it's not green coolant or something I wouldn't worry about changing it. The whole point of this thread was to show all of the ELC lovers, even their coolant isn't acceptable. It might work, but we just dont know.

It's yellow, but it's ethylene glycol-based. That's what PowerStrokeHelper said will turn to gel at high temps.

What brand coolant is this? I've never heard of a coolant turning to a gel at higher temps... not saying it isn't possible, but I've never heard of this. I'm on a LOT of powerstroke boards...

Was it a full flush, or did you just dump some in, they shouldn't be mixed, so if it is, definitely flush it out. Why is motor getting pulled? Must be a good thing judging by the smiley haha.
