Bad batteries will kill them trying to start the truck with low batt will kit them a bad alt will kill them and they just go out over time. No there are a few places where you can get a replaced FICM or you can get your FICM rebuilt look at the link to test it. IF you have a FICM falt somthing is wrong but you could also have injector problems how cold is it when it wont start you may also want to try some REV-X to your oil that stuff is amazing on trucks that have a cold start problem.

Low battery voltage will kill a FICM. The old inductive strategy will eventually kill them as well.

What code are you pulling up? P0611? <<That is the FICM death code.

Check out that vid for the location^^

Here is how you test it

I would recommend getting a FICM from Swamps. Cheaper than Ford.

less than 10 volts = FICM death Not too beat a dead horse, but it only cost me 1 FICM to put a volt gauge in.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

If you have a 4 pin FICM get the half shell. If you need a part number let me know. Can probably get one shipped to you for $400. Doesnt require any programming.

1 FICM? That's all? Lol The heat inductive flash killed my ficm a few years ago. Now I need another one because I bought cheap *** batteries.

Only bought the half shell in and out the door from Ford for less than $400 installed. The first heat induction flash was hard on them. Very glad the new one is fine. I like that the FICM is where that is stored and not the PCM. Allows tune flashing and no worries.

It costs me a couple beers and a night hanging out with my buddy to just resolder the FICM. I've got one now I just bought that is "dead". Going to fix this one myself, then after it's at 48V, going to do the 58V upgrade myself too. Figure I didn't pay much for the FICM, so it's a good test unit.

$400 for a half shell? Oh that's all? You can get good working FICM's all day on ebay or the forums from $200-$300. I know my buddy bought a new complete FICM from Ford once, bill was over $900 installed at dealer... what a joke.

It comes with the standard 12 months 12k mile warranty. Ask Swamp how many bad FICMs they have recieved from the good ole boys working on them.

The replacement parts are out there and they can be installed, but when you need your truck up and runnig, because you cant afford for it to be down you go with the sure thing.

If I had time to wait and order one from Evilbay or any other site I probably wouldn't have a need for the truck and it would go bye bye. You are talking a 7 to 14 day wait time if you get one and it dont know what programming is with the unit you purchase and it may need to be reflashed anyhow. Swamps has a 2 day lead time minimum not including the shipping time needed.

Too many unknowns with a used unit for myself when the vehicle HAS to run.

Ok? Still quicker and easier to resolder it. You could do it and have it back in the truck testing it out in less than an hour. If it doesn't work, then you can call Swamps up. Just offering other solutions. Everyone isn't here just to answer questions for YOU! I'm sure other members would like to have OPTIONS.

7-14 day wait? Maybe on ebay. I'm sure you could get one on the forums to your doorstep next day if you had to. It's a personal call though.

If your vehicled HAS to run, why on earth would you ever consider a 6.0 anyways. I bought mine knowing full well it was going to have some downtime. It sucks when it happens, but it's not like I don't expect it.

Wasn't trying to make up anyones mind for them it was stated above that why would you? So I answered why and what I have done.

Owned the 6.0 since Dec of 03 and it has been down for a total of 5 days within this 7 years. Less than a day a year.

The 6.0 is a great engine and will run for a very long time. I have no complaints about it. Owned a 97 Dodge Cummins and 5 Chevys 03-06. Only one I kept is the 6.0. It is the one I can count on and if it does go down there are parts available to fix it.

Can we get back to the topic now?
