rcd egr delete help
alright welp i attemped to put my rcd egr delete on and despite the instruction photos being with the cab off and a hell of alot more room then what im workin with i got everything but the turbo off. i got the two v band clamps loose after finding that they are spot welded in place on one side and the 2 out of the 3 turbo mounting bolts but could not find the 3rd turbo mounting bolt. im assuming after taking the turbo off the remaining work is pretty straight forwad to install the egr delete but im stuck at how to get the turbo off. is it worth taking the time to take the cab off and how much of a pia is that to take off

I've also seen some turbos with only 2 mounting bolts in there... Just make sure you have 3 empty holes in there. The V-clamps should not be spot welded either... They do clamp on pretty hard and when you loosen them up, they still stay sealed until you whack them with something. Once you have that third bolt out, turbo should rotate and pull out.

the v band clamps were defiantly spot welded my guess is to keep from rotating. even after taking the two bolts off and the vband clamps the turbo was rock solid still didn't even want to move. ill look for the bolt in the back next time i have it apart. if looking at the turbo from over the grill i got the one to the left and the one to the right of the turbo but other then two pedestal bolts those were all that i could find.

yeah i was pissed when i found they were spot welded on but i guess it would make it easier to put back on we will see, and yes the two i took out where horizontal to the ground, so im looking for a vertical one then and other then the vbands oil line and those three bolts it should be loose? also we bought the truck with 26k on it in 04 and so far so good other than a injector and a icp sensor its got 142k now and while doing the egr i saw the remain tag on the turbo so it must have gotten a turbo in the first 26k. other then the egr delete a coolant filter and oil bypass is there anything else longevity wise i should look into? its my fathers truck so there will not be a programer on it so unless the head gaskets give out i wont be doin head studs. right know it is bone stock until the delete goes on including stock exhaust. also it looks like the 03 has a silencer ring that is pinged in and could be removed possibly?

You can remove the silencer ring, but it's a waste of your time. Sounds like you're on the right track. I'd recommend a fuel pressure gauge a coolant temp gauge and an oil temp gauge. Fuel pressure will tell you if there's an issue with fuel supply(your pump) and will keep you from killing injectors running too low on pressure. Oil and coolant temps should remain within 15 degrees of each other, and if they start differing more than that, it's a sign the oil cooler is getting clogged. (It's main function is to regulate the oil and coolant temps), when this happens, it will lead to blown egr coolers (no longer an issue for you) and headgasket failure. Just some good things to keep an eye on.
