i just got the plug for my engine block heater and put it in and heard kind of a hissing sound after plugging it in and i'm wondering if that means it is working?

 

I couldn't hear anything with mine!? Are you sure that's what you're hearing?

 

yes, i was under the truck and routing the plug to the front and didn't hear anything till after i plugged in the extension cord and went back to pick up tools and heard that coming from the lower part of engine.

i just went out and climbed under the truck and felt around the plug area and it's warm and the hissing sound is just loud enough to hear from wheel well. i figured it was a normal sound but i wanted to ask.

I have never noticed a hissing sound, but I have never really payed attention
