Cat's removed, Good or Bad
I have a 06 F250 and have had it for 6 months and have already had the EGR cooler replaced. 52,000 miles, When I took it to Ford they mentioned that the truck has had the Cat's removed. Is this a good or bad thing for the truck, or does it matter? The service manager allowed me to look at the service records and the truck has had issues with the EGR before.

like everyone said personal choice. ive heard ppl say it improves mpg to have it gutted or deleted but idk how much if at all. and since u have no emission on the truck they really serve no purpose except to restrict flow and raise egts...
on a side note once ur trucks outta warranty DELETE THE EGR...i went through 6 or 7 in 100k on my turck

You mentioned the EGR cooler. Just so you know you shouldnt just replace the EGR cooler or you will have the same problem. You have to go to the root of the problem which is the oil cooler. The oil cooler clogs then reduces water flow to EGR cooler burning up the fins on the inside. You have to change the oil cooler as well or you burn up the EGR cooler again. I flush my cooing system whenever I change the oil and fuel filters. Keeping your coolant system clean is the key to keeping a 6.0 running.
