SCT is the only way to go. I've done Edge, it does not tune the transmission. Rough shifting. I don't know what all the SCT will monitor but as newman said above gauges are as preventative as it gets.
-Engine Oil Temp and Coolant Temp: if these temps are similar you're fine, if not it will
let you know of a problem (including a bad oil cooler).
-Exhaust Gas Temp
-Fuel Pressure
I'm a fan of using what you've got so I am investing in gauges before replacing Head studs or the oil cooler which still works. However, they ARE a problem. The final warranty work was done on my truck last month. It included my second EGR valve, an EGR cooler, a FICM, and an Oil cooler. Good luck bud!

I hear ya bobcat!!!! although, i need to keep it real with the checkbook.. In time i look to let it breath and build the tank but for now i'm in prevent mood..
Gages?
Doesn't one of the edges or even one of the sct's have all this info on screen without me having to dial the truck up?

You said your second warranty work was done and included the EGR valve? I live in California and read the emission laws and the warranty that comes with teh 6.0 ford truck.. I read that it stats the EGR is covered till 70k miles. Am I right? Because I took my truck to 6.0 F 350 to Ford last week and they told me the EGR wasnt covered.
I have no power. Boost wont go over 15 and struggles to ge ot 10. SLOW excelleration. Its bucking again also.. Cleaned the EGR about 2 weeks ago and it ran great for 1 day. Ford tech said that my Turbo is probably shot. My intake needs cleaned and EGR needs replaced. Only have 62k miles on the truck. But thats a toss up as my Odometer dont work either.. It flips 10ths of miles. Speedometer dont work. Trip meter dont work. Trailer light hook up dont work. Really starting to regret I bought this truck with all the problems I am having and only had it 4 1/2 months now..
Let me know if you can about what the EGR warranty is or if it was covered for you?
Thanks

didnt mention.. Truck only has 62k miles. So turbo is fully covered under 100k warranty. But I think Im going to try to clean the vanes this week. See if thats the problem. Thansk for the advice..

Thank you all for the info above!!
Prob. get the insight and a few gages for now and monitor...
ntmdtr3fan!!!
Before i bought my 2007 350 I called around for an extended warranty due to the fact my bumper to bumper was out but i have my powertrain until oct. 2011... Ford told me that anything that had to do with the emissions was not covered under my powertrain but would be if i purchased an extended b to b.. This was not just one dealer but several in my area...
