--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last Diesel i had was in 1996..

Picked up a 07powerstroke (everything stock) even with all the neg. crap said about them. Truck as of now is very clean mechanically but, i would like to know what my priorities should be to keep it that way (gages, components ect.).

I hear loads of things about oil coolers, egr coolers, turbos, injectors but, can any of you diesel freaks tell me what i should be looking at the most?

Keep in mind, I am not looking at breaking any land speed records!!

Knowledgable help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

I myself jsut got an 07 F350 6.0m PSD in march. ANd have found alot of valuable info just in this site. Few things I can say that will help is an EGR delete kit. As long as you dont have strict smog laws where you live. Also as for the tuner. I have heard great things about the SCT Xcal3. Ill be getting that myself soon. Some goes for ARP studs if you get the tuner. As for filter I have heard that sticking with the OEM filters is best. You can find packaged deals on Ebay that includes fuel filters and oil filter for abotu 35$. Ait filters run about $45 on ebay.
One thing to do is clean the EGR valve often. I just found this out about a week ago. Oring kits run about $8. GOt mine at Ford and they charged me $12.97.
This is just what I have learned from the info everyone has gave me from this site.. Good luck.

Appreciate all the comments!!!

Couple more questions-

1. Do i really want to mess with the heads (studs) if they are not giving me any trouble at this time (cost)??

2. W/ a EGR Delete,(or after market exhaust) will this kill the rest of my factory warr.?

3. Spoke with Gene out @ Bulletproof and his huge concern is the oil cooler. I realize he sells this modified cooler but is it being pushed because there is a huge problem with the fac. cooler or simple "buisness as usual"?? Seems like a straight shooter but has anyone had any dealings with any of their components?

4. Rustin*** Appreciate the links and i will be looking into the location in MI.

5. TUNER!!! I hear ya.. BUT, when you add tunes to a factory truck, don't you have to increase everything that tuner affects (ie. intake, exhaust, etc.) to be sure you keep the increases even across the board? It's like trying to pour 5 gallons into a one gallon jug- no???

i honestly would do head studs if i ever owned a 6.0 again, we had numerous problems with ours, and the intake is supposed to be good up to like 500 hp, but if you feel more comfortable with one go ahead and do it cant hurt it by putting one on, and yes you will need exhaust to keep the EGTs down, and the transmissions hold up to a lot... hope this helps

2. W/ a EGR Delete,(or after market exhaust) will this kill the rest of my factory warr.? Yes! Unless the dealer puts the exhaust on for you. Yes on the EGR delete!

Keep digging for info you will find it.

As far as the tuner. You can leave it stock, and just run the tow mode and be fine. if you want the tuner to be more efficient then the latter would have to be done.

Oil coolers do suck on the 6.0L, if you do any egr delete you should probably do an oil cooler at the same time just cause you're already there, and you should do head studs even if you leave the truck completely stock, i've heard of plenty of stock guys blowing the head gaskets on the 6.0's it's just the downside to the engine, if it were my truck I'd do Head Gaskets, EGR Delete, oil cooler upgrade, little bit bigger than factory injectors, intake, exhaust, SCT tunes from River City Diesel and torque converter and transmission pan and call it good and you'll have a truck that'll last as long as the rest of em, and I'd use a good oil such as Amsoil or any full synthetic
