Default auto 4wd issues

I can get my 4wd to work by hitting the 4wd high button, then getting out and manually locking the hubs....wont work unless i do that....just spoke to the mechanic i use and he said it could be a vacuum seal issue??

if that is indeed the problem, would that be something that someone with sub par mechanical skills (me) could fix?

tryin to cut out the middle man and save my scratch

mechanic said it would be around $350 if it's the seals.....does that sound right?

I would go to harbor frieght and gey a vacume tester and go through the entire vacume system and try to find it. I paid 30 bucks for a vacume tester with brake bleeder built in. And it should have all the required fittings to work on your rig.
