Default EGR Cer Delete

OK so I have searched and searched and have not been able to find the answer I am looking for. Has Anyone deleted the egr cooler and then run the truck through an emmisions test. My dillema is from what I can tell my oil cooler has probably gone out and possibly the egr cooler, I have not been able to get the egr valve out to check for coolant in the intake but I am puking and last weekend got hot pulling my trailer (stock tuning). I run an SCT with custom Innovative tunes, and 4" turbo back exuast. I just passed the sniff test and have two years, while replacing the oil cooler I would love to remove the egr cooler rather than replace it, not for performance but to rid my truck of dirty exuast running into my intake, makes no sense at all to me. I am more or less wanting to find out if anyone has gone through testing and passed. I was very nervous going in with my cat removed but it passed and they said nothing. Considering going double or nothing..... I am also going to add an auxilary filter for the coolant before it enters the oil cooler. If I get no answers and gamble I will go down immediatly and see if it passes, if it does no worries, if it doesn't two years to get it back on. My theory is my truck will last longer without the cooler, run cooler and cleaner. Thanks for the help for the Newbie....

I heard somewhere that it ran cleaner with the EGR deleted, didnt witness it, but it sounds possible.

I have an 04 6.0 and have blocked the EGR cooler. Blew 2 in 70K miles. With the cold air intake, the addition of the Juice module and adding cetane to my diesel I run cleaner, cooler and have more power than before. The egr didn't make it run cleaner since there was basically no fuel or oxygen to re-burn. All it did was pump soot into the engine. I also added an AMSOIL Oil bypass system to filter the oil down to 1 micron which will more than likely eliminate the problem with injectors blowing due to dirt building up in the injector oiler. So, in my opinion, your rig will run cleaner with EGR block, but it only makes sense it your going to do that to increase your cold air intake and boost the engine power with a chip. I recommend the Juice Platinum w/ attitude due to all the built in safety's you can program in. Hope this helps.

Dont run a edge on a 6.0. Makes good power, but is the least safe of all out there. Get an SCT with custom tunes. The juice has horrible transmision settings and will toast it quick. The 6.0 factory intake is good till 500 hp, and filters better then any A/M filter out there. The bypass filter is good, but a very good add on for reliability is a cooant filter. The number one cause of EGR and oil cooler failure is left over casting sand in the block.

Interesting you should bring that up about the Juice; although it is the first I have heard about it. However, its interesting because I never used the transmission settings other than 100% defueling between shifts. I dont race, go fast or put my foot into my truck. I pull my travel trailer and thats about it. Being retired, I'm never in a hurry. I find the torx shift transmission to do just fine without screwing with it. I keep the fluid and both filters changed and thats about it. As far as my juice goes, it never goes above 2 while towing and 3 while driving empty.

I have used three tuners and multiple tunes, and the best so far has been the sct with custom innovative tunes. All the others were going to fry my tranny quick, the truck would under hard acceleration flutter like it was not getting enough fuel or something, come to find out that was my tranny. Granted these were conditions faced when running each tuners race tune for going fast. I would never tow even with the tow tunes, always seem to make the truck "puke" so I run extreme race unloaded and back to stock with the tow haul button pushed for towing. I am noticing the truck running hot when towing running the stock tuning, when I unhook and put the custom tune back on that commands the egr valve closed I can hot rod all day without getting hot, I believe however that the problem lies in the oil cooler because their is no coolant when I pull the egr valve and look inside, just a lot of black grime.... Read that what happens when the oil cooler goes bad is not enough coolant makes it into the egr cooler fast enough to cool the exuast it just boils and pukes. Small amount of oil in the degas also at the bottom. I am still interested though if anyone has deleted the egr and passed an emissions test. I would love to feel good about deleting it and passing in a couple of years. As soon as I figure this out I am replacing the oil cooler and while I have it torn down doing something with the egr cooler either replace or delete, hoping to delete as I think the truck will last longer without it, especially with the extra soot from the chip getting in there. To the juice guy- Get an sct with custom tunes run the allout around town, stock when pulling and enjoy the power the 6.0 will make. I can keep up with my little brothers supercharged lightning f150, kills him and put a big smile on my face...
