Yea, it will throw a code if you just unplug it and also will not mark one of the pollution control tests
as PASSED in the OBD II.

So if you have to have your truck inspected in a state the reads the OBD II then you would flunk.

 

The best thing you can do with that damn EGR valve is delete it... There are several very well built kits that do that.

 

While your at it delete the entire EGR Cooler

 

I just took my truck to have it looked at because the check eng light came on, plus it has been running like ****. The diagnostic said the EGR is inop...so, where the hell is the thing and what does it look like? I am new to diesels...my truck is an 07 F350.

Any help would be great.

its in the intake manifold to the left iirc of your intake elbow.

pm a vender on here for a delete kit.

 

It has nothing to do with profit level. Cleaning the valves that have been clogged enough to set dtc's or hang wide open doesn't do ****, and is a waste of the customer's money and the technician's time.

Also there's two updates to the EGR valve since the cleaning TSB got turfed out.

That's because you have an 04.

The valve WILL creep open on it's own, even unplugged, so be careful.

 

03 and 04 throw codes when unpluged but CEL. 05 and up throw CEL.

 

it all depends on the egr codes that are setting....
if your getting circuit codes inspect the little ports beside the bolt holes when the valve is removed if there is soot around the ports replace the valve for the carbon has gone up the egr shaft and messed with the electrical. now for the other codes i would clean and have done so with no real issues even though it is not fords procedure.....
