Carbon in the EGR valve
What causes the carbon buildup in the egr valve and when it sticks, why doesn't it show up in the dtc? The egr cooler seems to be ok. Would just driving in town do it and not getting on the highway very much?
Thanks,

In town driving is a major cause but excessive emmisions will also cause it. I would contact a local BG Rep and find a shop in your area! To date there company is the only producer of a EGR service for the 6.0L PSD!
I had my truck at the local dealer and they told me I needed to replace my EGR valve. I am pretty handy with a wrench and want to do it myself. It seems with what I have read, it would be recommended to pull it and clean it first. Any suggestions? Also, they said I needed to replace my EBP sensor as well. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
It used to be a Ford service policy that if the valve was 50% clogged they would replace.
Since then a service update says to clean and replace o-rings.
But it is quicker and has more profit to replace. So they will just replace.
I clean mine at the oil change. Replaced the o-rings every other cleaning.
Just don't let the solvent get into top part.
