you won't bend that crankshaft, there are things that can cause this by maintenance in the past or if a HPOP failed in the past, one thing you can do is place some Shallow Pot magnets to the bottom of the oil pan to hold anything metal that may still be in the pan. just put them on from under the truck.
the one sign of damage you realy want to watch out for is an elongated dent in the gears, like from a needle bearing getting in between the gears. that damage would be from a failed Roller lifter and that would require head removal to fix it.

Default needle bearing damage

Any pics of this possible damage?

there was damage but it looks like it came from the gears themself when it got locked up.

I have been suspicious of previous work done before.

A couple bolts on fan had stripped threads. The heat shield by the ICP only had 1 of the 2 bolts and wasnt tight. There was a seal sleeve on end of crankshaft. Etc. ... so I think the housing was damaged and they left it for me to deal with.

so you think ifnthe HPOP went out it could cause those gears to lock up or something that would cause damage?

I just dont want to miss something that could lead to this again.
