Default Electrical issues?

Hey, has anyone out there experience electrical issues with your truck? I'm currently
going on my 8th altenator in a year and a half. Someone mentioned it could be my
intrument cluster, the module behind it, so thats being torn apart today.... would appreciate any thoughts. Its a 2006 f350 6.0 power stroke, the
only add ons I can think of were the trailer brakes in the bed for a 5th wheel. I didn't add anything new, just piggybacked from the existing trailer
brakes. I've had that checked and it tests fine. I bought the truck used in 2010. My first diesel so its all a learning curve, but I LOVE this truck when
it's running. I do some city driving, but a lot of cross country as well, which is why I chose a diesel. I didn't have any problems for the first 2 years, then
in Oct. 2012 the horn stuck, I took it to the dealership and they said the airbag had tangled. Once they relplaced it, all seemed well. The same dealership
did the first altenator swap that Nov. and I've had problems ever since. I now go to a different mechanic, who I love, and its still under warranty. I've also
had to have it replaced twice while I was out of state. We've had this thing torn apart from stem to stern several times and can't find a short or some such. If the instrument cluster is it I'll definately let everyone know.
Thanks

They said the electronic module that connects it to the system is bad.
It's "over exciting" the alternator and wears them out. Waiting for
Parts at this point. When I pick it up I'll give as many details as I can.
