When I start my truck for the first time everyday or after its been sitting for 45min-1 hour it sounds like a cummins and won't build boost. There's no kind of turbo sound at all coming from the exhaust(4" straight) but after the truck starts moving itll spool up and then you can actually hear the turbo out the exhaust pipe. Could the vanes be sticking? Also if I really get down on it, it'll build 15-17 psi then let off the gas and it'll only build 1 or 2psi for about 30 seconds WITH my foot in it again then all of the sudden it'll build 15-17 psi again. Question 2 when I start my truck up after its been sitting overnight or for 5+ hours it'll idle REALLY rough. Any guesses on that? My though was injector.

 

You should be able to get to 25psi of boost with little problem, if it is programmed it should be able to get to 36psi. Sounds like you have stiction in you injectors, a couple bottles of RevX with the next oil change should help with that. Have you cleaned the EGR valve, if sitll on there, it can cause the problems with spooling like you are describing.

 

You should also take some Seafoam Top Engine Cleaner and spray it into the turbo, just past the MAS, while the truck is running, then go drive the hell out of it for 20 mins. I cleaned up a knock, lag, low hp, and bad gas milage in 1hr. Most of the mechanic quotes for new injectors, new plugs and a turbo clean were $3500 minimum. fix it for $11.90. HAHA!
