Default 1995 12 valve stalling, rough idle, throttle stickin, and overheating

About 3 weeks ago I'm driving and my truck dies as I slow down for a stop sign. Fires right back up no problem. It starts to do this once a day for about three days, then on day 4 it dies every time I hit the brakes, dies about 8 times within a mile and a half. Well this past weekend I was taking it out to get it looked at and it dies (again) so I start it up give it fuel and it hangs wide open for about 30 seconds and dies on its own. Well after that I start it back up and drive back home and about 3rd gear the tone changes to a Jake brake sound and stays there til I get to my road and dies. My hands are in the air over where to even start. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

The Jake brake sound u speak of sounds like fuel starvation to me but that wouldn't make it hang wfo
