Default WHITE SMOKE

This is my first 6.0 and ive just now noticed since its started to get colder that when i start my truck in the morning there is a few puffs of white smoke then it quits. The truck isnt plugged up yet so its starting after the plugs warm up. Temp is about 30-35 degrees. Truck only turns over for about 2-4 seconds and fires up. Any ideas?

Try smelling it if you can, see if it smells sweet like coolant or if it smells rough and burns your throat/eyes like diesel. My guess is since it's only doing it when cold, it's diesel (unburned, since the engine is cold). The first things to check for your cold weather issues on a 6.0 would be the batteries number one (load test!), then test the FICM. The glow plug systems on these are quiet good and rarely go bad. Also just so you know, you can wait longer than the "wait to start" light too. When that goes out, it doesn't mean the glow plugs have shut off. Let it sit a little longer, or turn it twice like others do. Plugging in will also help tremendously.

I usually let it run through twice. And i just got new batteries in it in the summer. I know sometimes my cummins would smoke like that for no reason really other than the cold. I just didnt know if in the 6.0 it meant somthin was wrong

Could just be cold, I'd test the FICM for sure though, doesn't hurt and only takes a few minutes. The test procedure is at the top of the 6.0 page.
