Default Edge Programmer wiping out FICM?

A little help/input please? I purchased an Edge Platinum Juice w/Attitude programmer today and installed it out my truck. Within 30 minutes my engine light came on and there were 3 codes, FICM low voltage, v0155, and v0100. In my search for info I found several people who had the exact same thing happen to them. I could not find out whether or not the codes are valid or if the edge is throwing the codes out of error. Is this an error or could it be that the Edge causes the FICM to malfunction?

Have you tried putting it back to stock to see if you still get the same codes? You can manually test your FICM, I would suggest you do that. The test procedure is at the top of the 6.0 page. I highly doubt the Edge can do anything to the FICM, since it's not even really programming anything. It basically just fools the computer into adding more injection pressure by lying to it and telling it it's not producing what it should. I guess it's not impossible though.

I would also try reading the codes with something else, I find sometimes the generic programmers have trouble reading the correct letter before the numbers. So instead of a V0155 it might actually be a P0155.

I see mudstrokin had the exact same issue as you previously... https://www.dieselbombers.com/ford-p...code-help.html

He's still around somewhere, maybe he can comment on what fixed it...

I read the post about the test procedure for checking the FICM. If the light comes back on, I will test it. I took the truck for a long drive today and left the programmer on the stock setting and the engine light did not go off as it did yesterday. Do you think that the codes are valid whether it be a p code instead of a v? Or, do you think it could be a glitch? Sorry for the long post but, I am trying to learn as much as I can about these trucks and all that goes into them because I need to keep my going for a very long time. Thanks for the help you have given so far!

I would be on the phone with Edge to see what they say about it, it's clearly related to the Edge, since when you search for these issues everyone was running the same programmer.

Been there, done that, bought a new transmission. Read my status above if you really want to know how I feel about Brand E.

I ran that Brand E for several years complete with Hot Unlock. First they wouldn't service my unit because it wasn't CS/CTS platform (but they would gladly have me do a trade-in to upgrade. GRRRRR), then it ate my transmission. If I would have listened to my fellow Bombers, I would have bought an SCT years ago and saved my transmission.

I would get my money back or trade it in for an Insight MONITOR and buy and SCT programmer. I won't even sell my Brand E turd because I know what it did to my truck and I can't in, good conscience, tell someone else how great it is just for a few bucks. Also, knowing what it did to my truck, I'm afraid of hooking it up just as a monitor in Level 0 (Stock).

Update: The light did come back on and checked the DTC codes with with a code reader. The edge was showing the same three codes that I listed in my first post. The OBD II scanner only showed one code and it was "lost connection with instrument cluster"...which was the V0155. It seems to only do it if you switch between the power settings. To Karl...I wish so badly that I would have went with the sct. I am going to start saving for a sct and use to edge for monitoring only. Thanks for all the advise and hopefully this post will be a help to those who have had the same problem.

Did you try calling Edge about it?
