Sounds like the turbo shuts off for. Ive never heard a boost leak that sounded like that, but who knows im fairly new to diesels.

Yeah me either, usually they're way more noticeable. Seems to get up and go just fine but as soon as you let off the throttle it drops to nothing. Really weird.

Well if turbo spools up just fine and performance hasn't been sacrificed leak must be after the turbo right?

AHHHHH this pisses me of so bad, this, my tranny is going out and I just found oil on the turbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could kill someone!!!!

I havent had boots and hoses off, ever. And I have an sct sf3 with edge gauges, Did have the edge for a while but never used the tunes, has about 120,xxx miles all put on by me. And most work on it has been done by me, I ripped out the EPB sensor and cleaned it. No result. I made sure all boots and hoses were tight and snugg. No result. I have no clue what this is, the turbo spools up nice and smooth and then when I get to about 7-15 psi, it starts hissing and lets out that noise in the video when I let off. You cant here the hissing in person cause of distortion by the camara, and the BOOOSH is way louder in person. Thats all the info I have.

Pull the plastic CAC tube off on drivers side, I bet it has a nice split in it, the hissing is a good clue to that

Also your trans might not be going out, when you add more power sometimes it takes the trans a while to "learn" the new pressures it sees, common problems include searching for a gear and hard hits

Well, it could and it couldn't. Depends where the leak is I guess. The turbo itself could still build boost, but if there is a leak between the turbo and the intake, it could be building boost and bleeding it to atmosphere (still not as much boost as if there was no leak). Sometimes it's a hard concept to grasp, but what always helps me is to remember that a boost reading is simply a measurement of RESTRICTION. So if your boost numbers are low, you've got a leak. Opening up the path from the turbo to the engine (smoother path, more volume, etc) can also lower boost numbers, but actually help performance. We really want more VOLUME of air.

I think we're jumping to conclusions here. Why do you say your trans has an issue? As for oil on the turbo? Where? The crankcase vents into the intake in front of the turbo so the intake side of the turbo always has a nice oil spray on it, nothing to worry about. I doubt your trans is acting up out of the blue. These trans are very stout.

As for your description of your boost leak, this helps tremendously, do what Bob said below, I just went through this same thing. My plastic CAC tube on the drivers side had split and was wooshing out at the same PSI.

Agreed with everything Bob said.

Read here, here's my thread on it, and I can get you the P/N you need if you want to order it up.
