06 powerstroke killed battery and now no start

Sorry to hear that, it is the shops that give the 6.0 a bad name, too often they throw parts at it that are not needed, if they say the have to replace the cam shaft sensor then you know they don't have a clue and/or ripping you off.

Looks like it was the FICM after all, the shop replaced the unit and the truck was running fine, the tech believes that something from the original jump start after killing the battery must have fried the unit. Thanks for all your help on this it has certainly been a learning experience!

Weak batteries notoriously kill FICM's. I'd hate to see what you got raped for on that FICM.

Just keep an eye on it, eventually that FICM will do the same thing, better off getting them repaired instead of replaced, just for the future.
