Default 83 idi smoking problem

ok i got a 83 6.9 about 3 months ago that had been sittin for about 3 1/2 years, it was parked due to a smoking problem whne i got it home i started work on it i pulled the return govener to see if it was cloged, it wasnt, i bought a set of injectors threw pennsacola and new return lines, still smoked and had a slight miss at times. one day we were just lookin at it and thought about timing so we back the bolts off the pump and advanced it and it all but quit smoking. but over the past few weeks it has started again. hazing at idle and slight smoking while driving.

i few things im gona try and let me know if yall agree.
new thermostat posable stuck open
pull pump and reset time
posable new injectors. pensacola becoming questionable

any other help would be great not really lookin to make a power house of a truck just a good reliable truck , i have cut out the soup bowl i put a 5 inch exhaust on it just to free it up not to '' blow smoke" plus it sounds amazing but i really would like any imput at all and thanks in advance
