Default wastegate issues

i just had a new motor put in my idi and the mechanic put the turbo on and said it was gettin alotta blow by and that somethin was wrong with the wastegate like it was stuck open can anybody chime in on this subject give me a little advice does he just not feel like puttin the turbo back on so hes blowin smoke up my ***.... is there andyway to test the wastegate without puttin it on the truck

test it with air. blow gun to the wastegate hole see if the arm moves

only 10 PSI!!! dont put shop air to it. get a small regualtor and start putting 5 lbs to it. if it is stock, the WG should open around 8-10 psi.

sorry i just assumed the common sence thing there. hope you didnt blow the diaphram out of it

havnt touched it yet if it does work with the airgun do you think it could have other issues ?

absolutly. and blow by has nothing to do with the turbo, unless the bearings in it are trashed and oil is seepin by. you will be able to see this most likely. gooys black crap on the exhaust side or oil residue on the intake

the idi engines have lots of blow by, any motor with 21.5 to one compression will. if they are looking at it at idle, they are wrong. when you rev it up, the CDR valve will remove the blowby.. the intake side of the turbo and intake manifold will always have oil on it due to the CDR valve, unless you run a RDT.

do you know where and how much an acuator will cost?

no idea. not sure if you can still get it threw ford, or ATS for that matter. ATS doesnt really support our rigs anymore.
