Default 7.3 glow plug controler issue

i just replaced the solenoid on the GP controller and it sends power to the GP's all the time, i have lost one set of GP's to this put new set in today and ran push button to solenoid where the ignition power comes in. my question is can i leave it this way and if so how long can i hold the button before it damages GP's. does'nt the controller turn on for a second and shutoff many times through its cycle when it works.

thank you for all your input

Sounds like a faulty controller. The way you got it wired now will work. When you first hit the glow plugs, go 8 seconds then start the engine. If it's cold, cycle them 6 times, 3 sec's at a time with 15 sec's between.
