Default Another trans swap question

Hey y'all
My 86 is feeling like second gear (auto) might be on its way out.It pulls fine once its in it but it feels like she is starting to slip going from 1st to 2nd. My question is should I just get it rebuilt or try to go to an overdrive? I like how tough the 0ld 3spd auto work but I certainly wouldn't mind getting the revs down, but if I start towing a good sized (24ft) boat around I wonder how an OD would stand up just from prior experience. Any advice?

If I was you I would either put the zf5 speed swap, but since you have a auto already I'd go with a E40D. If you don't pull heavy wieght (20,000) plus pounds they hold up fine no problems They even hold up with that much wieght they just get hot, We pulled 31,000 pounds about a month ago in my dads truck it did fine. I personally like them, but I don't like how they shift between 3rd and 4th they shift once you get the power bad going, but you could put a tow and go shift kit in it like I am doing. and it would fix that. Just my .2 though
