Transmission Swap
I have a 92 7.3 turbo idi with auto. Looking into doing a swap to a 5 speed, probably five. Heard about a zf5 or t19.
Will they bolt up?
Should I get a blown up truck and do an engine swap instead?
Is there a 6 speed that would bolt up?
I know I have to get all the change over parts: brake & clutch pedal, master & slave cylinder, clutch, transmission... What am I missing?
Completely new to the concept, I appreciate any feedback.

its do-able but its a bit of work .. and the ZF5 is what whould have been the 5 speed and the T-19 is what i have and its a brute.... bang the gears all day and never misses and I have beat it down good in the last 5 years .. the Zf is not as strong and has some relibility issues - like parts are a B to find and are never cheep ... and you have to get the bell housing for a Diesel only .. the Big block one's will work if you dont mind fabricating and drilling holes and all that ... its a jimmie rigged way in my opinion .. get the t-19 ...
I have 35's , 3.55 gears, and 4 spd ... last average was 19.8 freeway and 17 city ...

The 4spd is tougher, my 86 has over 200k miles on it and works perfectly. The 5spd in my 93 has 156k and I have to drive it like a perfect gentlemen or it makes unhappy noises. The ZF6spd will bolt up to it but takes some massaging to fit in the truck.
