'93 7.3L Kicking my Backside (Starting)
Let's start off with I had this truck sitting for over 2 years in the back yard. Every so many months I would go out and start it and let it idle until warmed up and then turned it off again. This month, I finally got around to replacing the tires (All dry rotted) and change the oil and cleaned it off for operation again. Normally it would start on the first try every time. Then after exterior cleaning and driving around the engine would be hard starting when hot. The Wait to Start (WTS) light would behave like normal but it just didn't want to start. Found that one of the two battery disconnect switches wasn't working and I was using just one battery and cleaned both electrical connections on the injector pump. And that solved my hot starting problem. The next week, while out driving around the WTS light would only flash quickly and glow plug solenoid would keep cycling. Now it's having problems starting cold. I swapped out the glow plug controller and still seeing the WTS light short cycle, the solenoid clicking full cycle but still hard starting. It takes 4 attempts before it will sputter start. Is it still the glow plug and controller issue? After it's warmed up it will restart fine but the WTS light still just quickly flashes. I'm also only at 200,000 miles

After reading more from the internet, did the glow plug test. Disconnect the glow plug and using test light connected to the positive on the battery, see if will illuminate. All 8 plugs are dead. Verified the light and if the test is good by testing some old glow plugs I kept from the last time I replaced them. With all 8 glow plugs dead, the WTS light will only flash when trying to start and the clicking of the controller will continue but won't heat anything.
Now waiting for parts, replacing the controller and glow plugs at the same time should clear this issue.
