Looking for a good shop in the Edmonton, AB area. I believe I have injector issues, I have the dreaded rough high idle and or engine "lope". With cooler ambeint temps she runs at high idle like shes a gasser with a racing cam at first start. Even after running around town or on the hwy for long distance, if I stop for fuel/treats
once she hits the high idle same issue "lope". I get this "lope" with or with out programmer. Although running winter fuel, mileage and power have seemed to decrease even with summer fuel. I have noticed some black smoke at start up but its only a puff and not at every cold start. There has been no increase in engine oil level, so that eliminates leakby (oil analysis show very little soot, below accpetable). I change my fuel filter at 5k km intervals as I drive mostly off road (oil field stuff). I'm looking at mild hp injectors/nozzles 50hp as I like to get decent mileage. Been to the dealer for the "fuel cut off" test which of course showed nothing ( I think they had the "detail boy" do it) if there were more then injector fowled then the test wouldn't show anything. Been Fighting this issue since last winter! Any help would be apreciated. Thanks!

If you do not run fuel additive, you should consider it. Not saying that will cure your problem but it could have prevented it.

Anyways went over to GCL Diesel injection, had a good long talk with one of the techs there, seems like they might be good people, better then the Dealership! Long story short I'll be leavin her with them for a cuple of days on my next days off. I'll report on their findings and any work done to solve the issue. Thanks Dr. Evil

I have heard of this problem being a result of the Rokk you have installed. Between that and your programmer (which I'm not familar with) may be giving you too much timing!
The only way you are going to know for sure what is going on is to have your rail pressure tested and then have your injectors pop tested to the specification.
Next, if your stock injectors are junk like most tend to be you are pretty much at the mercy of what you can find to fix the problem. The dealerships generally don't have any clue about these motors BUT there are few guys out there (at dealerships even) that do.

Stay away from Crosstown, use to use Londenderry had to show them how the front drive shaft is greased and how to do speedo calibrations for larger tires!! I heard that Greatwest has a decent diesel guy there, but thats been awhile, he may have moved on. Greatwest has the best prices for parts!
Thanks Wyatt... I have run with and without the programmer... I understand that the Diablo doesn't do timing in the "tow mode" or in the "ecno/performance" modes, seems they only add timing in the "extreme" mode. But tomorrow after I hit the RV show here I'm heading over to the shop and I'll swap out the rokk for OEM sensor, run without programmer, then dump some injector cleaner in, re-adjust pitman arm linkage (added adjustable trac-bar oem shot! {what else is new} steering wheel is off center a bit) Then I might just take her for a spin to Jasper... damn!! Left sled at work!!!! Double damn!!
