Cummins ownership
For all you Power Strokers out there Ford does not own Cummins,So heres the proof go to any financial web page and look up the stocl price of Cummins ITS ABOUT A 100.00 SHARE! Go to the left side of the page and look up ownership, did down to the part that shows 5% Ownership, this is the people or companies that own 5% or more of Cummins, Ford is not listed,Cummins is the largest Diesel builder in the world, they did not get there buy being owned Ford,I would rather be CUMMINIS THAN STROKING IT

i think the question is, why would someone be stupid enough to take the best light diesel engine on the market out of a truck to replace it with a boat anchor. say what you will about when the new tunes were released but sounds to me like the powerchoke and d-craps guys are tucking tail and crying cuase once again they are beat. cummins has made one engine displacement change in 25 years with only ip changes 4 times. now lets count how many powerstroke and dmax engines have been out in the last 10 years dmax is on 6 engine changes or modifications to the current model and powerstroke is on the 4th completely new and replaced engine. a track record says more to someone who is smart enough to know what they are looking at. i would also like to point out which companies have had major recalls in the past ten years. ford dont even need to touch the 6.0 nuff said the 6.4 would catch on fire when the dpf burn hung up and would melt down the top or the motor thats just to start on ford. chevy had to completely recall all the 01-04 injectors cause they would crack and fill the block with diesel, they still are notorious for blowing head gaskets and water pump failures. and lets see cummins has recalled a sensor or two and had a few programming updades. i may be wrong but i cant think of any major recall on the cummins ever. maybe its because they dont push their product to the market before its ready or to make a deadline just so they are on the market in time, i would much rather a company be 6 months late releasing something that is 100% right as to have a pile thats in the shop more than i drive it. just one last thing on hp numbers a factorey can release whatever numbers they want but if you put them all on dyno side by side and stand back to see the results i dont think the for and chevy guys are gonna be very pleased with what they see. ive seen enough real world dyno numbers in the shop to back the statement ford and chevy way over rate their numbers. diesel power proved that it takes an intake tunner and dpf delete to make fords advetised power.

1. IMO I think GM with the LML has the best all around combo on the market right now, havent seen one of the new updated 6.7's perform yet.
2. Engine changes? Really? And does it even matter? Whatever I'll play along. So you are comparing displacement and IP changes...... true the cummins has been through 2 displacements (5.9, 6.7) and four IP (VE, P, VP, CP3), but do you know how many times the Dmax has changed? none, been 6.6 and CP3 ever since 2001. And even besides that, what does it even matter how many times the engine has changed? Just get your facts straight before you post.
3. Every diesel has had their problems, not one of them is perfect, so dont try to act like the Cummins is flawless. The 12v's had the KDP, the VP 24v's dropped IP's, the 5.9 CR's liked to throw injectors, and many 6.7's have EGR issues, these are all facts. Sure, the Cummins overall has had much less problems, but its still not perfect. The bulletproof diesels IMO are the 12v Cummins, 7.3 PowerStroke, and LBZ/LMM Dmax, none of them had any major problems.
4. I'm confused about the Diesel Power comment, are you referring to the 6.7 PowerStroke? I didnt think DP would already have an article over a DPF delete considering how new it is. And in most tests I've heard about, the LML romped the two 6.7's.

ill go with you on the fact dmax has kept the same displacement and cp3 but everytime the engine model changes the engine has too. so to say its stayed the same i would say is incorrect. and as far as the lml romping the 6.7s it was compared to the low hp tune of the ford and the 350/650 cummins NOT the H.O. tunes of either. everyones got their own opinion on whats better i have mine you have yours. i work on them everyday and i call what i see as having the least problems. and ford keeps me in business. thank you international for the 6.0. cummins has their issues like the rest but the ones cummins have dont cost near as much to fix or prevent as the other 2
