2011 High Output Cummins
has this been released by dodge? and 800 ft lbs isnt that big. but wait wait the 2011's are already out. btw they use the torque number because its bigger and looks impressive. in hp its probably right around 400 which shouldn't justify putting a high output tag on it.
ok... Are you trying to bash dodge/cummins? I'm not really catching what your gettin at man..... I mean judging by your signature your a ford guy so here ya go! Thats much more impressive! http://www.thetorquereport.com/2010/...l_power_s.html

i'm just not getting your point. what i'm saying is that the high output badge is stupid because its not high output. honestly i do favor ford a little. i like Dmax too. i'm not a fan of dodge but if they can impress me i'm not gonna knock them for goin the extra mile. i just think its too little too late. its already 2011. when the 2011's came out Dodge was #3 in there numbers. Chevy beat ford so ford put out a new tune for there trucks. now thats competition. that quick response is what it takes to be number one. Ford and chevy are laughing about that right now. Do ya see my point man? i'm not trying to totally bash cummins but do you understand my point of view on the situation?
Yeah i understand. The high output was just released in february. Thats my point man. Just figured us cummins guys might wana see that cummins is doing something to try and keep up with dmax and powestroke. But i also agree with the too late thing. I hate how they wait to unveil something like this till afterwards. I mean they couldnt even be used in the diesel power tow test because they werent rated for that load. Its ridiculous to be honest....
i think part of ford's advantage is they're building there own engines now and they want to be the best so they dont have to wait for IH. i'd really like to see cummins do well because with competition everybody is doing the best they can and cummins could do great things. honestly do we need 400hp and 800 lb ft? hell no but is it cool. hell yeah. i guess we'll see what everybody does next year but i'm sure there will be some impressive things going on. and we'll see if dodge and cummins stay together.

My good freind just bought a 2011 dodge 5500 with a 6 speed. I think the smog rules have ruined it, My 2001 ho 6 speed with edge will stomp it, i hope to see ways to turn it up even with the urea system.

Ford owns the Cummins thats in the Dodge and can make sure that they stay a step behind.GM on the other hand is true compition, thats why there loosing.
Again Ford does NOT own Cummins, they simply have a contract for engines in medium duty trucks, Dodge has the contract for light duty trucks.
I think seeing that it has the largest brakes offered on a pickup and the most powerfull exhaust brake, is bigger news than a few more factory ponies. |

Not to bust yer balls bub, but just step back and think about it for a minute. Do you really think if Ford owned Cummins, they would have suffered through the HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars lost in warranty claims and bad press associated with the 6.0L? Not to mention the huge amout of money (again, multi-millions of dollars) and time in R&D for their new 6.7L when they could have just dropped in "their own cummins engine" and been done? The fact is Ford owned a small percentage of Cummins shares 20 years ago (all of which have been sold) and that's as far as their "ownership" ever went. |
