The engine is built to haul that much weight. Cummins is the most OVER built engine made in the pick-up truck segment. its the suspension that "wont" handle/ haul/ tow that much weight.

oh and the Cummins woulda kept up

the 46 and 47 models are basically 727's. You can interchange a lot of the parts between them. It mostly comes down to the flexplate/TC and Input shaft.

I highly doubt Cummins will ever come out with an engine that blows the competition away. Unless Dodge can lean on them enough to make it happen.

cummins motor already blows the crap out of the others no doubt or argument about it....its emissions keepin it on a chain for the most part...and as previously said the rest of the truck just cant preform to the same standard as the engine. As far as this "8 speed auto" we might as well team up with eaton fuller.

About a year ago I read an article on cummins website(I think) and it said Cummins was looking into doing a compound turbo set up (like the 6.4 powerstroke) to help clean up emissions so they wouldn't have to use urea. After reading some on these post it doesn't sound like they took too many steps forward on it.

The handshaker means you stay at the 650lb-ft rating... No 800 for those manual trans guys.

Mattressman, Cummins has NEVER used urea (exhaust fluid). And it doesn't need dual turbo's to keep urea out of its exhaust... The variable nozzle turbo on the 6.7L does essentially the same thing as the dual turbo's on the 6.4L, plus gives the added benefit of being able to act as an exhaust brake.

Whoever said they could come out with a Jake brake option, keep dreaming. Those add so much height to cylinder heads you'd have to have one heck of a power bulge in the hood to clear the engine. And that hump would have to extend into the cowl, windshield, and dash as well. hahaha

Besides, there is no reason for a compression brake on these little engines. The only purpose it serves is to make the little truckers feel like they have their big boy pants.
