I don't mind the thread but to me and many others a
First gen is what 89-93
second gen is 94-02
third gen is 03-09
forth gen is 2010+

when I go by generations I go by major structure changes not engine changes other wise 98 and 98 1/2 would be a diferent generation

03-09 are 3rd generation trucks no major structor changes just a little cosmetic inside and out. are we going to make a 97 vrs a 98 a different generation because of the different interion?

Thanks for the post! allot of people would agree with you, as do I. Like stated before it is a matter of opinion. Some would say Shop jargon. Or just plain it is what it is. I was just enlightening on the subject of what the manufacturer and Chrysler referred to the power-plant. Most is common knowledge, some would say that the thread should not have been posted. I Just wanted to educate the new Cummins owners and spark a conversation on the subject. Thanks for posting!

Apparently! I wonder why? No member has commented as to why? Must be a couple of jokers upset, because a FORD guy posted something intelligent on a cummins! I was taught well of the Cummins. Albeit I do not know everything.

Default good job

Well Friend,
If nothing else you should be at least rewarded for your research, so thank you for the time you invested in compiling the information you put together for everyone to read and either ignore or argue with you about !!! As far as I'm concernered, I think most people follow the engine types along with the generations and thats what I do as well. Happy Day's !!
