Default trailer brakes

i got a 98 3500 dodge its blowing a 40 fusable link for the trailer and a 20 amp stop lamp fues when i press the brake cotroler manually all the wires look good and i tryed two controlers same problem all the ligths work on the truck and trailer i guess both controlers are bad? one was one the truck and the other one was a old one i had

Is this in factory trailer wiring or aftermarket. Sounds like you've got some wires shorting out someplace.

See if it blows either with the trailer wiring disconnected.

If it does, it's in the truck end of the wiring.
If it doesn't, then you have a short in the trailer wiring or a faulty trailer brake magnet.

I had a busted tail light on my trailer and the bulb was shorting out against the trailer and blowing my fuse. New bulb and it was all better.

Check for corrosion in the plug also

could be somthing in the brake drums
