The most prominent symptoms I have been through.
VP44 shot craps: Lack of power only noticable when I was pulling, fuel mileage dropped sharply, and eventually it wouldn't start when the truck was warmed up with out pouring cold water over the pump then it would fire right up.
Clutch slave cylinder: Truck wouldn't disengage the gears, so when you push the clutch in it still had some forward pull all the time. I could change gears but had to hold the truck in place with the brakes to stop.
APPS Out Of Whack: Loss of power, intermitent dead pedal on rare occasions and fuel mileage dropped off some.
Front Wheel Bearing shot: Truck had a constant pull to the bad side that got worse while breaking and the hub got hot enough to burn skin after only a few miles of driving.

VP44 packed it in. 2 Lift Pumps, Power Steering Pump, Death Wobble and that's about it.
No major events surrounding these issues though. Not like a blazer i had that went from 80 mpg to 0 in about 150 feet! pre-air bag days, marks from steering wheel on ribs. Ouch. I split the drive line because the trans was out of fluid due to a crack in the bell housing.

Driving home one night I started hearing a clunking noise every time I hit a bump or a spot in the road. Most people would just assume "well I need new ball joints." Too bad I had just done them. Got home and jacked the truck up the next morning expecting tie rod ends or a drag link or something, ended up the lower control arm rotted right off the front axle on the drivers side. That was an expensive fix. You cannot buy new axle mount pads from Mopar, Dana, or any auto parts store. I called everywhere looking for new axle mounts. No dice. "give: Ended up buying a junkyard axle plus a lift kit while the front end was out. The truck really ended up needing new control arms, springs, steering stabilizer, ball joints (on the new axle) and hub/bearing assemblies.
I lost atleast 3 throttle retun springs before breaking down and going to Mopar to buy new ones. That wasn't expensive, it was just a nusance. Truck wouldn't idle down, throttle was excessivly touchy.

The worst thing that has happened to my truck thus far was when I took it to one of those DIY car washes (its a dually) and washed it all up nice and purty. Then I drove directly to Flying J to air dry the truck at high speed and filled it up.
When I started it back up the CEL came on and my heart sank. I had my laptop with me with the electronic service manual--so I did the key on trick and it threw a code. I don't remember the number, but it was something like "ambient temp sensor/intake temp senser disagree".
Well I figured that couldn't be very important, so I drove it home with the CEL on. When I got home I cleared the code with my scan tool and unplugged the temp sensor in front of the intercooler looking for water in the connector. Finding none, I plugged it back in and let the truck sit thinking that maybe when I washed it, the temp sensor didn't like getting wet. I let it sit for a few hours and when I went back out and started it back up - no CEL and no more codes. It's been fine ever since
