Low pressure light??...whats next..Sorry for a Newbie quest.
I am new to diesels. I have a 2000 Dodge 3500 cummins 4x4 6spd. I bought the truck a couple months ago. It has 70K miles. It is my work truck. I have had a red light on the dash flickering/staying on for a little while now and just found out that it is probably a low fuel pressure warning light. What Do I Do???? Where do I start??
Also, it has began to try and stall in the morning when I start it for the first time of the day. It runs for a second or two and then cuts off. It will start back up but not as easily.

the quicket way to check for low pressure is to check it...you will need a gauge with a 8 to 12 in section of hose and a schrader valve on the end of it you can get one at you local auto parts store...then on the injection pump which is located on the driver side of the motor towards the front you will find a schrader valve just screw the gauge on there and have someone hold and watch the gauge and start her up.. idle you should be around 10psi give or take........i would still get the truck scanned if you can. also spend some money and get some gauges.... dont put this off if you are running on a bad LP you are doin damnage to your injection pump(vp44) and that is a bill most can do without..............

I will probably still check the pressure but......I just traced the wire and I found the sending unit on the VP44 and the wire was not connected! I am going to hook it back up and see what happens. I guess it was just resting on something metal and turning on the light. Hopefully the light will stay off when I get it hooked back up.

Even with the light hooked up, you have no way of tellin at what presure they have the sensor set to trip at, so it's till not gonna tell you anything. It could be set to 4psi s some of them out there are. At 4 psi your doin bad things to your pump already. A mechanical fue pressure guage and the supplies you will need to install it can be had for well under $50 and this will tell you exactly what you need to know.
