lugging the engine

I just dont have the low end to pull mine back up from a hard lug. Mine just rattles more then usual and then slowly starts to come out of it. That is if I'm in 5th at around 30mph. Maybe it would be different if I had injectors and some more low end grunt.

well with my 6 spd i can take off in 2nd then go to 6th and it rattles more yes but it comes ut of it just fine

I'm pretty sure it is hard on the crankshaft and the rods too, not to mention everything else. I wouldn't keep doin it on purpose!

u ever see a rod go through the side of the block???? thats the result of lugging a Diesel. it un called for abuse

engines don't like to lugged down that low. just outta curiosity what's your pyro saying?? that spinny thing under the hood sure can't be moving much air either.

An old trucker once told me " A cummins is not a Cat! a cummins is made to turn rpms. Don't ever lug one!" I have always figured that to be true.

As a good rule of thumb I won't go below 1,200 RPM's on flat ground. Your true power band is from 1,500 to 2,500 RPM's...

There is no need to run below 1,200... Grab a gear or get a Automatic trans...
