How bout startin with somethin simple. When's the last time the valve lash was checked. Borrow a laser temp reader and check the temp on each piston to see if ones runnin hotter then the rest.

I pulled the 82 back from the dealer, and it lagged *** climbing steep hills. It never lagged *** like that before. I'm pretty sure they adjusted the valve lash when they did the injectors.

Problems I'm looking at:

Turbo is crapping out or waste gate is partially sticking open
Leaking head gasket (does use about a gallon every couple weeks)
Injectors again
Gauge is lying
Converter is dragging the engine down too much (ATS Five Star)

I didn't notice too much difference when I did the hoses, if any.

Now I know it's not a boost leak. I was headed to Miles City today, and I couldn't get the damn thing to hit 1000. But coming back, it was wanting to hit 1200, and I wasn' even working the engine. So I got a sensor that's fouled up, but not enough to throw an f'n code, and the slight injector rattle reappears when the EGT decides to climb.

So, it looks like I'm back at the drawing board. BTW I changed out the FCA, and it helped a little.

Looks like I'm going to need a new harness. Checking the IAT sensor and I'm not getting any readings or readings are out of spec where the manual is telling me to check.

Before you buy an all new harness try some white dilithium grease first. Maybe even shoot some contact cleaner in there.

Yup some good electric contact cleaner and let it soak and dry completely. Otherwise I hope you have this figured out...

Cleaned 90% of the connections, I checked all the pins on the C-1 ECM connector, and the pin that's suppose to have some resistance, shows infinite on the display. Found 4 that shows -36.3 Ohms.

I'm no tech, but I think something is out of wack.

3. (K21) SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the ECM harness connector.
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between the engine ground and the temperature
sensor (K21) signal circuit at the sensor harness connector.
Is the resistance more than 100 k ohms?
Yes >> Go To 4
No >> Repair or replace the engine wiring harness.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1
(DIESEL). (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL
MODULES/ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - DIAGNOSIS
AND TESTING)

All it showed on the meter was infinite (1)
So there is an open circuit some damn place

Did some more digging, and I got more codes and solutions that point to the MAP/AIT sensor.
