Royal Purple/Amsoil Synthetic ATF

I ran Royal Purple MaxATF in my truck for about 6 months. It did seem to shift a tad better at first but with in a month it was getting worse.
I do BELIEVE my TC was already starting to bake before I ever put the Royal Purple in my transmission so I'm NOT saying that RP baked my trans!
But when the truck was in the shop I did some research on if I should put the RP back in or go with something else after they were done.
I'm friends with a Dodge Service rep who's worked for them for almost ever. He reminded me that up until a few years ago no one made a ATF+4 for Dodge except Dodge. It was a proprietary formula. That got me thinking OK who does Dodge allow to make their special secret formula then?
First thing I learned was that the Mopar ATF +4 is a full synthetic right from the factory. Our automatic transmissions never run a dino oil in them.
Next thing I learned is some brands are licensed to re-brand: just use the same formula as Chrysler and some are licensed to blend: modify the formula with in specifications.
The most interesting part I learned...is neither Royal Purple nor Amsoil are on their list.

Ya, as far as not being on their list, some companies, AMSOIL included, don't spend the dollars to get their names put on the list. There are several examples of this...even the API certifications. These products still qualify but don't have the offical "blessing" from the OEM. Since they qualify, they can't be denied in warranty issues as long as your using a proper fluid rated for that particular use.
Then on the Mopar ATF+4 being fully synthetic. I have heard several versions of this and none are consistant. Wish I could find out what the real story was??? I had always heard the mopar fluid was a semi-synthetic. I had a friend take his truck to a dealer. He wanted them to put our ATF in it, but he didn't advise it. He told him that the full synthetic products were "too slippery" and were causing problems?? He recommended he stay with the Mopar fluid. This made me assume the Mopar was not full synthetic, or this guy didn't have a clue?? Go figure.

Now the dealer he took the truck to must not know a whole lot about what he is talking about. Seems to me he has no clue that mopar atf 4 is synthetic and is still uneducated about synthetics. Now if the whole case about the trans fluid being too slippery when we put the synthetic universal transmission fluid in the turbo 400 of my dad motorhome last year before they took it to Alaska that thing should have had issues as it was a stock trans on a 87 allegro. But all the fluid did was lower operating temps and make the thing purr and help pick up some mileage

Doesn't getting a oil api certified mean that you can't change one part of the formula without getting it re-certified? With the r&d done by AMSOIL and their tweaking the formulas would cost them a lot would it not?
