Royal Purple/Amsoil Synthetic ATF
 

Do they meet Chrysler ATF+4 specs, or am I going to need to need a separate friction modifier??

Amsoil ATF does meet ATF+4

I personally will not run anything royal purple makes. Too many people have lost motors with it before and it's not worth the risk. I run amsoil in everything and it works great.

my warehouse runs royal purple in there trucks and have good luck.

i am going to royal purple when my truck gets a few more miles. warehouse says i should run a good filter like afe oil filter

here is a quote of why I will not run royal purple.

"Well...I used to build offshore race engines for some of the big league open water guys and before any engine left the shop we did break-in and tuning in shop on the dyno. Break-ins were always at varied rpm and on conventional oil....after an hour of runtime we switched to a synthetic oil....and even did some r&d for Roush and a couple other big engine guys. We experimented with Amsoil, Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, and Royal Purple looking for a couple horsepower here and there....and I can tell you we couldn't get the Royal Purple out of the engines quick enough. We even experienced engine failure on two different unrelated engines...a N/A 560 ci and a 720 ci blown motor. Both had spun rod bearings, excessive wear on the mains, and wrist pin failure....and the pin failure should have never happened with pressurised pin oilers. We eventually settled on two oils....Mobil 1 and Amsoil.....and when you have a pair of engines running at redline for an hour in open water you only use the best.

Consequently....Amsoil was the first synthetic."

hmmm i run royal purple xrp race oil in my mustang and achohol race bike the car runs 10s and the bike spins at 22k for 30mins on a race both motors never failed and its been 4 years of racing with no problems and no tear downs. i also run it in all my trucks and cars, plus my father is a chemical r&d guy and he did a test on oils and amsiol and royal both have the same break down propertys and chemical formula both having little basis in actual oil both being more of a custom blend of additives and formulas so, that being said both oils are great to use and way better than any non syn.

maybe they changed something since then, but I am not taking a chance.

I think both are excellent Products.

I do aswell, I run Royal Purple in my mud truck and it has a 383 that sees alot of high rpm use, and I use Amsoil in the Kubota loader I run

i use valvaline true blue full synthetic in my engine and valvaline atf-4 full synthetic in my t- case
