Default 48 re missing shift

okay maybe someone can give me some insight and cheapest possible fix (currently unemployed) to cure my poor trannys problem. have a stock 06 2500 quad cab long bed 4x4 cummins. lately when i try to hammer down (even with towhaul mod on) truck revs to about 3gs holds for a second or two blows bunch of black smoke and then hits gear with very little go afterwards. very sluggish to rebound. when the truck hasnt fully warmed up and i hammer on it ive noticed much quicker reaction from trans to hook up and go. actually fun to drive at that point. could be a fluke when that happened.

also ive noticed when pulling a load apprx 9000lbs going up hill it seems to rev alot and not increase speed. flat ground it seems more responsive. i would never tell my friend this but his mid 90's half ton chevy with 200,000+ miles pulling a jeep was getting away from me on the hills.

what could be the problem with this thing? the best i could figure out from what ive read is the governer pressure solenoid. is that it or should i just count the days on this thing.

thanks

nik

thanks

Sounds like the converter is slipping, in which it's going to be about $2000 parts and labor to switch it out for a tighter converter.

kindof figured that was the case but was hoping maybe it was just not getting enough line pressure. i guess i ll just save my money and get a fully built tranny.

thanks
