Popping in Front End?
Ball joints are possible, but my money is on Swap Bar endlinks, or possibly even a bad tie-rod end. When my ball joints were SHOT, they didn't make any noise, but those sway bar links sure make a nice clanking down there.
just don't turn or go through dips in the road.....
i'd check the sway bar first, check the mounts to the frame and to the axle, check the shocks, check all the steering components, check the control arms.
if all those check out then jack up under one sode of the axle and get one wheel off the ground. grab the top and bottom of the tire and push/pull towards you. if the wheel moves the balljoints are bad. do this on both sides.

I had the same problem and it took me forever to figure it out.....after bout a month i finally took the whole weekend and ripped it apart and low and behold it was the shocks yeah they were shot and thats after i had both wheel hubs off...i almost gave myself a black eye for being so dumb!
